Small Sports Events Fund
The CCC Small Sports Event Fund is designed to assist sports associations and clubs who are to host top level National and South Island sporting events. This fund is allocated annually and applications must be received by the set closing date in May each year.

List your sporting and recreation events on BeThere.co.nz – Christchurch & Canterbury’s only dedicated online events calendar.
List your events FREE of charge on the BeThere website just click on ‘submit your event’ and upload your event details and pictures, you can even manage you own information if things change.

Sports Promotions and Events

The Christchurch City Council Events Partnerships & Development Team assists sports organisations and event organisers to promote Christchurch as a sports event destination. If your club or association requires advice or assistance with researching, bidding and funding for national or international sports events we would like to hear from you.

The Christchurch City Council has a range of grants schemes through which community and sporting groups can apply for funding. The Community Funding pages on the website provide information on each of the schemes, including their criteria and application forms.
It is recommended that groups spend time searching other funding avenues as well, a list of additional options can also be found on the CCC website.

GET SET GO! and Spread the Word!
Two essential workshops for organisers of community recreation programmes and events.
‘Get Set Go’ is an event management workshop that covers the four stages of planning an event and ‘Spread the Word’ guides you through the eight steps on the promotional pathway. Bring your ideas along and we will help you put them into action using the step-by-step planning sheets provided.
Workshops are 3.5 hours and cost $35pp for non-profit organisations, or $55pp for business or government organisations. The cost includes the workshop and the takeaway resource.

Canterbury Sports Foundation
The Canterbury Sports Foundation makes grants to member organisations to assist in the delivery of sport programmes that foster participation in sport. Grants are considered four times a year and must be submitted by the following dates for each funding round – February 28, May 31, August 31 and October 31.
Business Scholarship applications close 30 June and 31 December. Bernie Walker Award applications close: 31 December.
